If you stay more than 30 days, you declare your address to the foreigners' police within 30 days. The registration certificate is optional, but it brings your rodné číslo, and banks, schools and doctors all ask for that number.

Step 1
Declare your address
Declare it to the foreigners' police within 30 days of arriving. You fill in the form yourself, unless your landlord or hotel already did it for you.

Ask for your registration certificate
If you stay more than three months, apply to the Interior Ministry for the osvědčení o registraci. It costs 200 CZK and takes up to 30 days. It is optional, and it is what brings your rodné číslo.

Choose your health insurer
If you work, tell your employer which insurer you chose, such as VZP: the employer registers you within eight days. If you are self-employed, you register yourself within eight days.
