03The paperwork
A commune, a matricule, a tax card and a login
You declare your arrival at your commune and register there within three months. Your matricule, your social security and your tax card then come from different offices, and you need a LuxTrust or GouvID to sign anything online.

Step 1
Register at your commune
Declare your arrival at your commune, then file your registration declaration within three months. The commune hands you the registration certificate straight away, and it has no expiry date.

Step 2
Get your matricule
Your 13-digit national identification number is assigned when your commune enters you in the national register. If it does not arrive, ask the commune for an extract of your register data.

Step 3
Check your tax card
If you work, your employer registers you with the CCSS within 8 days of your start date. The tax authority then issues your tax withholding card automatically, in about 30 working days.

You can log in with it, because France is on the eIDAS list, once you have your matricule. If it hasn't arrived, you can request it online with the eIDAS procedure.
