The papers waiting for you in Malta
Your residence card comes from Identità, your social security number from the Department of Social Security, and your health entitlement from the Entitlement Unit. Each office has its own website and its own list of documents.

Register with Identità
Staying more than three months? Apply online on the Expatriates Portal. Identità answers within 48 working hours with an appointment for your biometrics, and the card is free for EU and EEA citizens.

Get your social security number
For a first job in Malta, your employer sends the Jobsplus Engagement Form and the number is issued from it. If you work for yourself, you send that form yourself.

Check your health cover
If you work and pay in, you are covered. Retired, with an S1 from home? Register it with the Entitlement Unit and you receive a Certificate of Entitlement.

I'm an EU citizen and I start a job in Malta next month. Do I need a work permit, and who gets me a social security number?
No work permit: as an EU or EEA citizen, you can start without waiting for your card. Your employer sends the Jobsplus Engagement Form, and the Department of Social Security issues your number from it, so you don't have to ask for it yourself. If you stay more than three months, you apply to Identità for your eResidence card, which is free. Once you have your social security number, there is no separate tax number to request.

Add an appointment: we email you seven days before, then the day before. My schedule shows it all, month by month.
A vault for your papers
Your documents are encrypted before they are stored, with a different key for each document, kept apart from our servers. Nobody on the team has a tool to open them. Moovy reads each document you add to file it, and every reading appears in your log. You can delete everything whenever you like.
