Before the flat, the visa
Since 1 January 2021, you need a visa to work or settle in Scotland unless you already hold EU Settlement Scheme status. Once you are in, tenancies, schools and NHS care follow Scottish rules.

Find your visa route
Use gov.uk's Check if you need a UK visa, then apply online before you travel. For a Skilled Worker visa from abroad, the usual wait is about three weeks.

Open your UKVI account
Once the visa is granted, create your free UKVI account. Your eVisa replaces paper documents, and a share code proves your status to an employer.

Rent with a Scottish tenancy
A private residential tenancy caps your deposit at two months' rent, and your landlord must protect it in an approved scheme within 30 working days. Scotland has no right-to-rent check.

In Scotland, each school has a catchment area, and your council usually gives your child a place at the local one. Depending on the council, you get a letter confirming it or you register your child yourself. Want a different school? Send a placing request: it must be accepted if there is room, and you can appeal a refusal. Children aged 3 to 5 can also get up to 1,140 hours of free childcare a year. Check the catchment before you choose a flat.

Add an appointment: we email you seven days before, then the day before. My schedule shows it all, month by month.
A vault for your papers
Your documents are encrypted before they are stored, with a different key for each document, kept apart from our servers. Nobody on the team has a tool to open them. Moovy reads each document you add to file it, and every reading appears in your log. You can delete everything whenever you like.
