In Slovakia, the foreigners' police come first
You report your arrival within 10 working days, then register your stay in person if you stay beyond three months. Missing a deadline can bring a fine of up to €300.

Report your arrival
Tell the foreigners' police (cudzinecká polícia) within 10 working days of arriving. If you stay in a hotel, it does this for you.

Register your stay
Staying more than three months? Apply in person, no later than 30 days after those three months end. It is free, and you get your certificate the same day if your file is complete.

Join a health insurer
Choose one of three public insurers: VšZP, DÔVERA or Union. Send your application within 8 days of starting work, then sign up with a GP.
