Before the flat, the visa
Free movement ended on 1 January 2021: unless you already hold EU Settlement Scheme status, you need a visa before you work or settle. Your visa is digital, so employers and landlords check it with a share code.

Step 1
Find your visa route
Use gov.uk's Check if you need a UK visa, then apply online before you travel. For a Skilled Worker visa from abroad, the usual wait is about three weeks.

Open your UKVI account
Once the visa is granted, create your free UKVI account. Your eVisa replaces paper documents, and a share code proves your status to an employer or a landlord.

Apply for your National Insurance number
Apply online once you are in the UK and allowed to work. The number usually arrives within 4 weeks of your identity check, and you can start work before it comes if you can prove your right to work.

No. Since 1 January 2021, EU citizens need a visa to work in the UK, unless they already hold EU Settlement Scheme status. For a job offer it is usually a Skilled Worker visa, which needs an employer approved by the Home Office to sponsor you. From abroad, decisions usually take about three weeks. Check your route on gov.uk and talk to an immigration adviser before you apply: the stakes are high. Irish citizens are the exception.

A vault for your papers
Your documents are encrypted before they are stored, with a different key for each document, kept apart from our servers. Nobody on the team has a tool to open them. Moovy reads each document you add to file it, and every reading appears in your log. You can delete everything whenever you like.
